    frequently asked questions
Which type of commercial roller grille is the most secure?

When it comes to commercial roller grilles, there are several types available in the market that provide different levels of security. The most secure type of commercial roller grille depends on the specific security needs of your property.
Some of the most common types of commercial roller grilles include aluminium roller grilles, steel roller grilles, and polycarbonate roller grilles. Here is a brief overview of each type:

    1. Aluminium roller grilles: These are lightweight and durable grilles that are easy to install and maintain. They provide a moderate level of security and are suitable for areas where the risk of burglary or vandalism is low to moderate.
    2. Steel roller grilles: These are heavier and stronger than aluminium grilles and provide a higher level of security. They are suitable for areas where there is a higher risk of burglary or vandalism.
    3. Polycarbonate roller grilles: These are made from shatterproof polycarbonate materials that are resistant to impact and provide a high level of security. They are suitable for areas where there is a very high risk of burglary or vandalism.

Ultimately, the most secure type of commercial roller grille for your property will depend on factors such as the level of security you require, the size of the opening you need to secure, and your budget. It’s always a good idea to consult with a security professional who can help you assess your specific needs and recommend the best solution for your property.

How long can a commercial security grille be expected to last?

The lifespan of a commercial security grille can vary depending on several factors, including the type of material used, the frequency of use, the level of maintenance, and the environmental conditions it is exposed to.

Generally, well-maintained commercial security grilles made of high-quality materials such as steel, aluminium or polycarbonate can last for many years. Steel grilles tend to be the most durable and long-lasting, with a lifespan of up to 20-25 years or more, while aluminium and polycarbonate grilles can last up to 15-20 years with proper maintenance.

To ensure the longest lifespan possible for a commercial security grille, it’s important to follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance procedures, including regular cleaning, lubrication, and inspection. Regular inspection can help identify any wear and tear, rust or other damage that could impact the performance and lifespan of the grille.

It’s also important to consider the environmental conditions the grille is exposed to. Grilles installed in areas with high humidity, salt air or extreme temperatures may require more frequent maintenance and may have a shorter lifespan.

Ultimately, the lifespan of a commercial security grille depends on various factors and can vary widely. It’s recommended to consult with a security professional who can recommend the most appropriate type of grille for your specific needs and provide guidance on maintenance to maximize its lifespan.

What questions should I ask when buying a commercial roller grille?

    6. What is the warranty? – Ask about the warranty and what it covers, including the length of the warranty period and any limitations or exclusions.
    7. Can the roller grille be customized? – Some manufacturers offer customized options for roller grilles, such as different colours, finishes, or designs. If customization is important to you, ask if it’s available and what options are offered.

By asking these questions, you can ensure that you choose the right commercial roller grille for your needs and budget.

What maintenance is required on a commercial roller grille?

Regular maintenance is essential to keep a commercial roller grille in good working condition and extend its lifespan. The specific maintenance requirements will depend on the type of roller grille and the manufacturer’s recommendations, but here are some general maintenance tasks that may be required:

By following the manufacturer’s recommendations and performing regular maintenance on a commercial roller grille, you can ensure that it remains in good working condition and continues to provide the necessary security for your property.

Does a roller grille need to be installed by a professional installer?

Yes, it’s recommended that a commercial roller grille be installed by a professional installer. Installation of a roller grille can be complex and requires specialized knowledge and equipment to ensure that the grille is installed correctly and operates safely and reliably. A professional installer will have the necessary training and experience to properly install the roller grille, including ensuring that it is level, properly anchored, and operating smoothly.

In addition to ensuring that the roller grille is installed correctly, using a professional installer can also help avoid potential safety hazards or damage to the property that could result from improper installation. Professional installers will also be able to advise on the best type of grille for your specific needs and provide guidance on maintenance to help extend the lifespan of the grille.

While it may be tempting to attempt a DIY installation to save money, this can lead to potential problems that could be costly and time-consuming to fix. It’s always recommended to use a professional installer for a commercial roller grille to ensure that it is installed correctly and functions as intended.

Do any roller grilles stop a vehicle from ramming and entering a store?

Yes, some roller grilles are designed to withstand a vehicle impact and prevent forced entry into a store or commercial property. These types of roller grilles are often referred to as "anti-ram" or "impact-resistant" grilles and are designed to provide an additional layer of security against forced entry by a vehicle.

Anti-ram roller grilles are typically made from heavy-duty materials such as steel or aluminium and are designed to resist the impact of a vehicle. They may also feature reinforced frames, locking mechanisms, and other security features to prevent forced entry. These grilles are often used in high-security areas such as government buildings, banks, and other high-value targets.

However, it’s important to note that no security measure is completely foolproof, and even anti-ram roller grilles may not be able to withstand all types of vehicle impacts. It’s important to assess the specific security needs of a property and choose a roller grille that provides the necessary level of protection. It’s also important to ensure that the roller grille is installed correctly and maintained regularly to ensure that it remains in good working condition and continues to provide the necessary security.
